I have spent most of my life inside teams.
Long before I worked with executive leadership, I was captain of a volleyball team.
A CREATIVE STUDY EXPLORING SPORT, RECOVERY, DESIGN, AND CARE IN WOMEN’S SPORTS
Everything I create begins with observation.
Before I facilitate conversations, I study the conditions that made those conversations necessary. Before I recommend solutions, I try to understand the systems, relationships, environments, and assumptions already shaping the outcome.
My work lives at the intersection of research, writing, facilitation, and design. Different mediums. One fluent inquiry.
Recovery is a practice. So is leadership. So is conflict.
WHAT I STUDY
Organizational Recovery. How sports organizations recover after conflict, transition, public scrutiny, leadership change, and institutional disruption.
Identity. How leadership, performance, and organizational culture shape the way people understand themselves.
Recovery. The social, cultural, organizational, and environmental conditions that help people return to themselves after demanding experiences.
Women’s Sports. How women's sports organizations develop cultures capable of sustaining both excellence and belonging.
High-Performance Play & Leadership. The conditions that allow leaders to perform without sacrificing trust, curiosity, or humanity.
Environment. How physical space, meeting design, ritual, and organizational structures influence communication and recovery.
Conflict & Trust. How they form, spread, and what they reveal.
THE PRACTICE FRAMEWORK
-
UNDERSTAND
Study the conditions before proposing solutions.
-
FACILITATE
Create the space for honest conversation.
-
DESIGN
Build what comes next.
-
INTEGRATE
Help change become part of everyday practice.
MY CONVICTIONS
Recovery deserves architecture.
Conflict is information.
Care is a practice, not a reward.
Environment shapes behavior and identity.
Women deserve places where performance is not the price of belonging.
What we create carries memory.
Sport is culture.
Returning is its own discipline.
ESSAYS AS RESEARCH
Essays serve as field notes. Each one documents something I am trying to better understand. Sometimes that understanding begins in organizations or court side seats. Sometimes on a golf course, museums, hotels, conversations, airports, or locker rooms.
Writing is how I test an idea before I build design a framework around it.
RESEARCH IN PRACTICe
Through the PARLO Residency, I partner with women's sports organizations, athlete-founded businesses, and sports brands navigating leadership, conflict, and organizational change. Together, we work to understand what is happening, facilitate the conversations that matter, design healthier ways of working together, and integrate those changes into everyday practice.
Through PARLO, I return to sport through women’s golf. I study performance and explore how design, hospitality, landscape, and culture shape the way Black women and LGBTQ+ women golfers recover, gather, and return to themselves.
